A Tailcast Review With Crispy (No. 1)

Hello all! Well, a few peeps have been writing about who and what they love on Tailcast this week, and I thought: what a brilliant idea! So I’ve picked one of my recent fave Tailcasters to share with you all. :)

She’s relatively new to Tailcast and has already posted some blindingly stunning work, her name is Elena.

Her style is a vibrant fusion of expressionism, abstract and colour field, with a hint of art deco. Fantastic stuff!

A flowing, organic structure permeates her work in the form of sweeping, curving, and spiralling lines of exquisite colour harmonies. These add nicely to the overall composition, and the way they interact with other elements suggest a field of fluidity and movement; giving her works a dynamic edge. This is evident in a good number of her recently uploaded pieces, including Empty, Peace of Mind and natural structure.

The fantastic swirls in Empty in particular give the impression of depth and also make it feel as if the figure is sitting in some sort of ethereal vapour, i.e. there is something atmospheric going on between you and the figure, and also further back in the picture. Additionally the curls and swirls augment the sensual curves and shape of the subject really well.

Elena also makes brilliant use of colour field style areas of colour and these compliment the expressionistic elements perfectly. In Her Eyes and The Lollipop Boy both show this.

In, In Her Eyes, the expression of the figure is fantastically presented and you get a sense of real sadness from it, this emotion is added to by the paleness of the face. Elena juxtaposes the melancholy of the subject with lively blocks and shapes of colours that give a lovely contrast to the overall mood of the piece.

This is my quick take on some of Elena’s beautiful work, and in short, I urge you to check her out; she’s producing some really extraordinary pieces!

Visual Muse Has Left Me

sigh....The whole point of this blog is, well the title really says it all, my Visual Muse ( I call her Mabel) has deserted me.

I need to tempt her back.

Because she's gone awal, my paintings have suffered, all of the ones i've recently painted have ended up looking like i've gathered up some material, likened to what would come out of the backside of a cow, and splattered it on the canvas..nice eh? And it's not me being super critical..they really do look crap.

I suppose in writing this, I'm hoping to make her jealous, by giving my Wordy Muse ( Victor) something to chew on...and boy isn't he a hungry blighter!

But at the moment, ..no sign of her......i've browsed Tailcast and the net looking at artwork, throwing out a bit of bait to see if I can reel her back in...but alas...nothing.
Knowing her she's probably in a ditch somewhere sniffing oil paint and white spirit. I really do need her back soon, Victor is giving me a pounding head ache...blah blah blah *SHUT UP VICTOR!*

Sigh, is there anyone out there who can lend some advice in how to get her back, my sacral chakra is blocked without her!

Simple Things

This is a truly momentous occasion! Whilst browsing my catalogue of work on Tailcast (I know I'm plugging this a lot but..it is good stuff) I managed to actually see a comment made on one of my poems....BEFORE the email that would have notified me of said comment arrived in my inbox! ^_^ ......... how cool is that! ........what!?.......sorry, simple things for simple minds I guess.

Anyway I'm off to chase some butterflies...

Start

Okay, i'm not sure what on Earth i'm gonna be posting here in the future, but it's guaranteed to be something arty farty, pertaining to Tailcast, or at least something marginally creative...I hope.

Hmmm, it's rather strange sitting here typing words, in effect talking to myself, in case anyone is reading this......HELP IM TRAPPED IN YOUR COMPUTER.............ahem, just kidding....err, I suppose a quick intro on my part would be adequate, but since I don't really feel up to any major typing*, i'll leave you (...assuming there is a "You") with some bullet points:

>Name: Chris (probably figured that out by now)
>Age: 22
> Hair: Yes
> Eyes: Two of them
>Sex:.....i'm not even going to make that joke...though I suppose I could have used "Gender"..meh
>Superpower: Pyschic Skittles
>Interesting Facts: I have a degree, I can play the didgeridoo, I can juggle flaming knives whilst performing back flips and reciting Hamlet's soliloquy backwards and in Latin.....okay that may not be a "fact", but it sounds interesting..right?

* It's super hot where I live right now, something quite rare in England, where weather usually ranges from rain to slight drizzle.

P.S. Reading this back I clearly do not know the difference between these pointy triangle things " > " and bullet points " . "

Thank you that is all.
